Google Pay™ Web Integration

Integrate Google Pay in Web

Google Pay lets customers pay quickly and securely with cards saved to their Google account, on Android devices and supported browsers. This guide explains how to offer Google Pay on your website with EveryPay, using either the hosted payment page or the Web SDK. Mastercard and Visa cards are supported.

By enabling Google Pay, you agree to Google's Terms of Service in the Merchant Portal.

Before you start the integration, make sure everything in the checklist below is in place. Most Google Pay issues come from a missing prerequisite rather than from the code.

Compatibility requirements

Google Pay is widely supported, but some requirements apply. Please review the following:

Account setup

  • E-shop and card payments: Your e-shop must be registered and active in the Merchant Portal, and card payment methods must be enabled.

  • Google Pay enabled: Google Pay must be activated on your account. To enable it, please contact your acquirer.

Merchant Portal setup

Complete the following in the Merchant Portal under E-shop Settings → select your e-shop → Google Pay section.

Hosted payment page

  1. Read and accept the Google Pay Terms and Conditions by checking the box, then click Save.

  2. Check that the section shows Accepted with the confirmation date and time.

  3. Leave the Google Pay Merchant ID for Custom Domains field empty.

Web SDK

  1. Register with Google and obtain a Google Merchant ID from the Google Pay and Wallet Console.

  2. Accept the Google Pay Terms and Conditions.

  3. Enter your Google Merchant ID in the Google Pay Merchant ID for Custom Domains field, then click Save. In test environments, you can use any placeholder value.

  4. Check that the section shows Registered together with your Merchant ID.

Server requirements (Web SDK)

All pages that offer Google Pay must be served over HTTPS with a valid TLS certificate.

Documentation & resources

The full developer reference - SDK setup, configuration, error handling and payment flow - is attached below.

The integration guide is provided as a Markdown (.md) file and is best viewed in a Markdown-compatible viewer or editor.

Merchant-Initiated Transactions (MIT) with Google Pay

Google Pay supports Merchant-Initiated Transactions (MIT) in the same way as regular card payments. If your system already handles MIT with standard cards, no additional integration steps are needed.

The key processes stay the same: save the card token during the initial one-off payment, then use that token for subsequent MIT charges. This works identically when the initial payment is made with Google Pay.

For examples and details, see the API documentation.

Testing and Going Live

Before going live, review Google's web integration checklist for test scenarios. To customize the button, follow Google's branding guidelines. For more background, see Google's web developer documentation.
